There are many ways to support my research into Luceno family origins.
If you have a family tree on any of the major ancestry sites, please consider making it public. There is no benefit to be gained by keeping the results of your research private. All the major sites allow you to protect individuals on your tree who are still alive. Ask any genealogist you know how frustrating it is to find a family tree that is locked!
If you are still unwilling to make your tree public, please consider adding me as a “Guest” to view your tree. My handle on Ancestry.com is jmluceno31.
If you are a Luceno descendant who has tested through any of the major testing companies like Ancestry DNA, Family Tree DNA, or 23andMe, please contact me so I can compare your results with known Luceno descendants. I am especially interested in Lucenos on the Francesco Branch, though the genetic results of any Luceno descendants are of use to my research.
Also, please consider uploading your results to Gedmatch. Gedmatch is a site that allows people who have tested through different companies to compare their results with one another. Regardless of which company you tested through, you should upload your results to Gedmatch in order to expand the number of people with whom you can match.
More than anything else, we need to get male Luceno descendants with the “Luceno” last name tested for Y chromosome SNPs. Right now we really only need three people tested:
If you are a male Luceno and would like to help by getting a Y-DNA test, please contact me so we can figure out which branch you’re on and whether your sample would help shed light on Luceno origins.
