The Luceno Origins Project

About

The Luceno Origins Project has the following four goals:

  1. To determine the common origin of the two main branches of the Lucenó family tree.
  2. To discover whether the Lucenós of San Vito sullo Ionio are recently related to Lucenos of Spanish descent.
  3. To make research into Luceno origins freely available to the public.
  4. To attract support for this research.

My interest in Luceno origins began after seeing the results of a DNA test taken through the National Genographic Project. The information on this site represents many hundreds of hours of research I have conducted since then.

By now I have reached the limits of what can be accomplished with available historical records. All known branches of the Lucenós have been pushed back to the early-to-mid-18th century. To answer the big questions about Lucenó origins—how the major branches are related and where the Lucenós originally came from—will require strategic Y-DNA testing.
